What is lean management?

Lean management involves never ending efforts to eliminate or reduce ‘MUDA' (Japanese for waste or any activity that consumes resources without adding value, variability and inflexibly both create path to waste) in design, manufacturing, distribution, and customer service processes

In simple words, lean management‘s core idea is to enhance the value with a minimum number of resources. The approach systematically seeks to eliminate wastes in resources, costs and more while optimizing each step of the business process for enhanced efficiency, quality and productivity.

Lean management encompasses a set of principles, practises, tools and techniques and requires a long-term continuous movement to improve products, services, systems and processes of an organization in order to eliminate all mode of waste.

The approach mainly came from the Toyota Production System in 1980’s, which promotes an analytical mindset among the employees at every level to contribute to the waste elimination that will gradually become not just a practise or an approach but a new way of thinking.

With decades and decades old proven and re-proven systems and latest technology, lean management is a process every organization or enterprise who are future-oriented should consider adopting.
